I had been there to help them move. I had taken Candystick up there once while Cinderella was on a business trip. So, this weekend was going to be our first trip to the new homestead as a family. What we found out was - it is our new weekend Bed and Breakfast in the mountains. I have so nicknamed it "Grandma's Bed and Breakfast at Papa's lake"
The home sits on over 6 and a half acres with a 2 acre pond. It is very peaceful and relaxing. With three porches, you can choose which porch suits your needs based on the time of day. The front porch faces northeast and towards the mountain. It's a great place to be in the afternoon as the sun lights up the mountains. The back porch has more of a southward facing direction. A morning cup of coffee as you sit on the padded bench swing will softly bring in the day. It also looks out over the pond. The side porch is idea for the evening cookouts as it is directly off the kitchen. and has a shade tree near.
Here is a photo of my mom enjoying her coffee after church Sunday afternoon on her front porch.
While my mom and Cinderella relaxed on the porch reading and enjoying the quietness, Candystick and I headed to the lake for some fishing. It was slow go at first. However, it didn't take long for the fish to realize we were there to feed them. Candystick ended up catching and releasing 21 Bluegills.
Here she is showing off her catch!
Here she is waiting for that next big lunker.
There is another great catch!
A great view of the lake from the house.
On Saturday night - my mom and dad hosted a cookout/birthday party for my sister. Both my grandparents and my sister and her husband were there.
Here is my mom getting everything ready.
Apple Festival - you didn't think I forgot did you?
We had a blast at this years Apple Festival. There were plenty to do and even more to eat. Of course I tried to capture every tasteful moment. The one thing I was totally excited about and then the greatest let down was the Dessert Candles. They looked great - until I was told I couldn't eat them. Darn!
Here is a table full of desserts - I mean dessert candles. Look at all the detail.
Here is a closer look. $45 for one of these table settings is a true bargain.
Brenda Clark does an outstanding job on these. I was totally amazed! I have been unable to locate a website for Brenda - but with candles like these - It will not take long! Good Luck Brenda.
Food was my main drive. I started with a deep fried Twinkie.
I can't wait to stuff my face!
OKAY - I stuff my face!
next on the docket was nachos - with a side item of friend onion. That's me and my mom and dad - WAVE!
Let's not forget the few bites I stole from my mom's grilled ear of corn.
also about how I followed mom around to see if she could eat all of that apple dumpling.....
With all that food, we had to take a few more laps around the festival. Here are a few shots of Cinderella and Candystick as the begin to grow tired.
Here is a group of travelers.
I didn't get out too cheap with Candystick. She picked out a great looking Georgia Bulldogs purse. Ask her to show it to you - it's awesome.
Last - we took Candystick by the wildlife area. Here she is feeding a small deer.
With that - I leave you with great thoughts of a great weekend. And soon we will take another trip to stay at Grandma's Bed and Breakfast at Papa's Lake.

omg you must send me one of those cakes!
1 - sounds like a 4 star bed and breakfast.
2 - love the pictures of the house and lake.
3 - deep fried twinkies?! Yuck. With all of the apple delights around you, you chose to start with deep fried twinkies?!
4 - get candystick a real purse. Don't ruin it with a bulldog printed on the side.
Fair food is the last thing my fat butt needs.
Mmmm...... food.....
Looks like you had an awesome time, and the house sounds extremely inviting!
And I can't wait to see Candystick's purse. A bulldog is much better than a bee!
looks like a great time. That's a lot of fish to clean!
If you ever find her website...let me know. The candles look amazing!
