Fantasy Draft is over

Brees, Drew QB NO TB
Barber, Marion RB DAL
Williams, DeAngelo RB CAR
Johnson, Andre WR HOU
Johnson, Calvin WR DET
Miller, Heath TE PIT
Scobee, Josh K JAC
Seahawks DST

Rivers, Philip QB SD
James, Edgerrin RB ARI
Williams, Ricky RB MIA
Crayton, Patrick WR DAL
Toomer, Amani WR NYG
Watson, Benjamin TE NE
Akers, David K PHI

That's how I did in the draft. I don't think too shabby for a rookie fantasy player. I tried not to load up on any one team. I tried to spread the love around. AND Who gets P. Rivers as their backup quarterback! Sick. I am looking for Jacksonville, Carolina and Dallas to be big scorers this year. I picked up a Patriot TE in the later rounds. Any comments from the experienced readers?

Pinned my hopes on Drew Brees - he better stay healthy!

If Carolina can get close, this guy will punch it in. DeAngelo Williams

DEFENSE! Seahawk Pride!

See you peeps later!

Golden

Adobe - you are no match for me. At least not after I uninstalled all previous versions. Ha!

With the latest Adobe flash player downloaded, I am back in business.

It's summer vacation planning time.
We are looking at a June run to Daytona Beach. Ocean Walk.

It's fall and Little One has her first softball practice Saturday.

Lot's of other things going on. I haven't forgotten about the cook-out.
It's will come together soon.

The light is visible at the end of the tunnel. It is as far as this temporary assignment to a new job is concerned. I will be returning to my regular job in early September. Yippee.

I hope all my peeps are still there and hanging tough (don't let an image of the new kids on the block invade your mind)

Okay! so I will help you out.

I want to go hiking/camping.

NFL Fantasy League

Okay. I like football somewhat. I watch it when there is not a good movie on. However, last Saturday while at the pool, I was invited to participate in our neighborhood league.

Now - I need your help.

We will have a fantasy draft on 8/24/08. I sorta understand this. But I have no clue as to what the "strategy" should be.

I am thinking draft a good quarterback or running back first.
2ND - a good wide receiver or a left over from round one.
3rd - something left over from rounds 1 or 2.
Then what? A kicker? A backup running back / wide receiver / quarter back?

If you know anything about fantasy football. Please give a few pointers.

I desperately need your support.

Thanks in advance,
Rake

What's in a name?

I was once with my father practicing our bow shooting skills.

It was a course set up in the woods where you walked around to different targets. Each target had its own setting, range and level of difficulty. Looking back on those times with my father reminds me of really fun times.

This one instant my father and I had encountered another man there and we all traversed the course together talking along the way. About a third of the way through the course, the man turns to me and asks "is your name buddy?". My father quickly interjected my real name.

I don't think either one of us was aware of the frequency that my father addressed me as "Buddy". For years after that instance in the woods of north Georgia, I would always hear someone call me "Buddy" and I would remember that time.

The years slipped away and that memory was tucked away in the cob webs of my mind. Yesterday, I was working in the plant and someone confirmed my actions with "Sure Buddy!". My mind immediately pulled out that long tucked away memory. I walked away with a smile and refreshed thought of a fond memory.

The memory stretched into the one bow shooting tournament I entered. I received a trophy! I place 2ND in my age group. I was happy. I think there were only 2 entrants - but I wasn't going to let that disappoint me! I had a trophy with a bow hunter on top of it. I still have that trophy. It's probably older than roadrunner!

Is there a tucked away memory in your mind that needs a little dusting off and shared with others. I ask that you tell us and we will all share in the joys of yesteryear.

School Fundraiser

Back to school and already the fundraisers are at it.

Little One came home today with her "Boosterthon" package.

No wrapping paper to purchase.

No candles to sit in the cabinet.

Just cold hard cash to encourage the students in:Fitness, Education and Character.

What's the drive?

They create a "Track" 1/16 of a mile.
People pledge $$ per lap.
Students compete in running the most laps (stopped at 35 max).

I will start the pledges at $2/lap. (don't shame me as her parent)
Anyone outside Georgia or the U.S. want to sponsor? She will get more prizes!!

Thanks bunches!

Boosterthon

New

What is new? It's a new week. How often can someone start new?

I am ready to start new. This is a new day. I am ready.

Weekend review.
Friday night Roadrunner and family wimped out of an invite to hang with the Rake. Instead, our family ate a quick supper and Little One and I headed to the pool. Mom stayed back to do some laundry. The sacrifices mom's make. Thanks sweetie!

Saturday was busy. We left the house just be noon and headed towards town to sign Little One up for Softball. This will be her first season and hopefully she enjoys it. I think she was excited and encouraged to see all the other little girls around and not too many boy (other than brothers). I really think that is what she didn't like about soccer - even though her next season would have been all girls also. She was turned off by gymnastics when the switched her instructor from a woman to a man. She opted to get her first name on the back her jersey. She requested one the following numbers: 24, 20 or 17.

With Softball sign-ups out of the way, we headed over to an old neighbors house to visit. When we moved from Smith Lake Cove subdivision, we left behind a great neighbor who really took Little One as her own grandchild. She is having some physical difficulties lately and the visit really cheered her up.

The next stop was a pool part for all the children bible quizzers at the home of the teacher. The kids played very well in the pool and I think they all had a great time. We ate hot dogs, chips, m&m's, brownies and ice cream.

The next stop on our daily tour was my in-laws. My father-in-law has been diagnosed with a herniated disc. He is making it slowly around and is scheduled to visit a neurosurgeon later this month. The girls went out and got Captain D's for supper while my father-in-law took naps.

We returned home late and quickly fell asleep.

Sunday was a good day at church. Revival is next month and should be interesting. Little One invited a friend home and Cinderella made a great chicken casserole with corn, green beans and macaroni and cheese. I took the girls to the park where they each took turns hitting the softball and running the bases. A few minutes on the playground and they were too hot and wanted to go back to the house. I stopped off and purchased everyone a slushy. Once back at the house, we still had plenty of time before Sunday evening service. So, we headed off to the swimming pool. About an hour and a half there and it was time to go home. Evening service was good - but I have to admit - I was really tired.

When I got home, I took 2 Advil PM and went to bed.

So - This is a new week and here we go.

See you on the flip side.

Time Marches On

The summer is nearing its end. Little One starts back to school on Wednesday. I still have over 1 month in my other job function. Cinderella continues to be the great wife I have come to rely on.

How does life march at such a quick pace. Why can't I slow it down. There is always something around the corner to take my time. Something else to slice hours even days out of the normalcy of life. If I have time it seems to be in too small of increments to really do anything outside of home

Family:

Little One starts second grade this week. The school successfully separated her from just about everyone she knows. She will have to 2 students from her 1st grade class and 2 students from her Kindergarten class. May she have a great year of school. She will start bible quizzing soon. She will meet with other students and the teacher on Wednesday nights soon. Then she will travel around Georgia competing in quizzes.

Next Saturday, I hopefully will get her signed up for her first season of Softball. I really hope she enjoys it.

Cinderella is well and very busy. Working, singing, and taking care of us other two. She smiles through it all.

Me - I am working & sleeping and not much more. I did manage to get a lot of yard work done this past Saturday. I slack in mowing. I REALLY slack in weed whacking. If I mow every other week (or three), I may weed whack every sixth week. I need a really cheap yard man (like free). I know that isn't going to happen.
I haven't been Geocaching in over a month!

Until next time, enjoy the latest video from Little One.
