I found it

A while back, we were drinking Nestle flavored water. Then, out of nowhere, We couldn't find it anywhere. Any flavor. Gone. Non-existent. I searched. Cinderella searched. No one stocked it. Or, we were just a little late arriving before others took it.

However! I have been successful in obtaining more. This week while grocery shopping. Wal-mart had it. I grabbed it. And now I am drinking it.

Welcome back Nestle.

Someone who "gets it"

The way I would hope I could conduct myself in a similar tragedy.

Dong Yun Yoon a Korean immigrant who lost his wife, 2 children and mother-in-law when a military jet crashed into his family home Monday said at a press conference to "Pray for the pilot" & "He is one of our treasures for the country".

There is a greater thing other than ourselves. Could we possible grasp that in such a tragedy?

A Smoky Mountain Thanksgiving

The getaway started on Tuesday when Cinderella, Candystick and I awoke to a cool fall morning. We were all in good cheer. Excited about what lay ahead. We loaded the Truck and soon were on our way.

We met up with Grumps & Granna along with Maw maw (Candystick's Great grandmother) at Hardee's near Wade Green Road. I had a monster biscuit while the two ladies in my company each had biscuit and gravy. You got to love this biscuit. Didn't you know that fat grams and calories don't count while you are on vacation!

I did!

We stopped a couple times along the way. It eventually took us about 5 and half hours to make the trip. Soon we arrived at our cabin in the mountains (more like a house)

Cinderella and I took a drive to the Gatlinburg and Great Smoky Mountain Visitor center on the main parkway. Along the way we saw 2 turkeys - then when we watched them cross the road. We then noticed the rest of their family. A rafter of Turkey. I count 17 - how many can you spy?

Cinderella mentioned that they were trying to escape the farmers wife! (being 2 days prior to Thanksgiving)

Soon Flip (Cinderella's brother) arrived with his family in tow. We enjoyed a good rotisserie chicken courtesy of Wal-Mart and Maw-maw.

Flip brought their Wii. Once it was hooked up - there weren't many hours that it was on and not being played. Between Candystick and C-man playing bowling and Cinderella and I playing tennis and bowling, the game got more play time than the TV.

After dinner and a few games the kids jumped into the hot tub on the deck outside. I sat out there with them and watched them play and made sure time limits were observed. Soon we were all fast asleep in the Smoky's.

Wednesday morning came with us all wanted out of the cabin in search of our own adventure. My wife and her sister-in-law took off to Wal-Mart to pick up a few items for a surprise birthday party for Grumps. He is about to click over to the 60 mark. Cinderella's brother got grumps out of the cabin so the ladies could decorate. It ended up that Candystick, Maw maw, Granna and the youngest of Flip's children went with them to the Smokey Mountain Knife Works. Flip's older boy and I took off into the Great Smoky National Park for some hiking. Not wanting to make the kid (8) hike up and down a strenuous trail - I chose the Little River Trail out of the Elkmont campgrounds. I think we had a blast. Here is a picture tour.

Starting out - He had lots of energy - He wanted to be king of the ROCK!

Next up was an abandoned hornets nest. Kid wanted to hit it with a rock.

What would a hike along the Little River be without rock skipping.

Did I mention the kid had energy? Here he is being Tarzan swinging through the trees on a hanging vine!

Notice the similarities?

Here he is right before he destroys thousands of hanging ice sickles.

This one was taken just before I had to call him back from a certain cold bath!

We visited a nice waterfall.

Here he is saving the world by holding up this huge bolder.

We arrived back at the cabin just in time to watch Grumps blow out the birthday candles. Happy Birthday Grumps!

Knowing that Flip isn't the huggy kissy type - The girls had a fun time pilling on to give him smooches.

Grumps and his grandchildren reading birthday cards. Someone hand him a hanky!

Later, we headed out to dinner at Red Lobster - but not before we stopped at Woody for some go-cart racing.

Candystick and her cousin.

The next day Candystick was having fun trying to pop the birthday balloons.

and then she did.

Once we got most in the house up and ready we headed out to Cade's Cove. We left Grumps and Granna and Maw maw to cook Thanksgiving dinner.

Along the by-pass of Gatlinburg, we saw many cars pulled over and people out pointing into the woods. Must be bears. We pulled over and I got these shots of the three Smoky bears. A mom bear with her two cubs. They had their own special way of crossing the road (underneath).

a few pictures of Cade's Cove:

We returned to a big Thanksgiving dinner - Thanks ya'll who all prepared it. It was yummy! I quickly found the pillow and took a several hour nap with a full stomach. After my slumber. I sat around the cabin for a while - kind of in a food daze. I watched the kids as they again played in the hot tub. I invited a couple people to go through Gatlinburg to see the lights. However, Cinderella didn't want to go - nor Candystick. Finally, Maw maw spoke up and wanted to go. So, we two headed out and up to Gatlinburg. We drove through and back around the by-pass in about 45 minutes. Nice - but I would have much rather spent a whole day up there. I love to walk the streets and shop and eat and shop and eat. Really just eat. The walking is necessary to get from one eatery to another. On the way back down I was thinking a lot about the Krispy Kreme Doughnut shop in Pigeon Forge. I thought if that "hot doughnut" signs in on - I AM STOPPING. Well, it was on. And the line was wrapped around the building and about 1/4 mile down the parkway. I chose to head on back to the cabin.

The next morning we pulled out and headed back to Atlanta. I enjoyed the trip. Thanks to all those that were there and helped make this a great getaway!
